Imagine if the dog happens to be resting its front paws on the dash when the collision occurs. EJECTION SEAT!!!
Now this provides an excellently humorous mental image...

In the off chance that you're asking that question seriously...

Dogs don't sit in a seat the way humans do. If it's in a transport cage, then obviously an airbag won't do any good. If it's not, then it could still be more dangerous than not having an airbag. Imagine if the dog happens to be resting its front paws on the dash when the collision occurs. EJECTION SEAT!!!

Seriously, airbags are designed to work as part of a safety system which includes the seats and seatbelts. If you aren't using the entire system correctly (which would be impossible for a dog), then the airbags can do more harm than good.

I don't think there's a cutoff at all on the 04-05. Clovis installed an aftermarket one in the 00, I can check to see what brand/model it is if you're interested.
Correct... there isn't a way to disable the passenger side airbag in the pre '06 models... Hence the line in the owners manual that states they don't recommend children under the age of 12 riding in the car....

Good info here and I'll add a few comments:

The '04 and early build '05s dyno about 5HP higher than mid-late 05s and on.

Also, DBW really limits what you can do if you're looking for serious mod potential. The '04 & '05 can have the Hondata KPro installed, which offers some impressive (and affordable) ECU management options.

My only gripe with the AP2 is the short gearing. IMO, the AP1 should have the AP2 rear end, and vice-versa. The clutch delay valve is a bit of a nuisance, but that's easily remedied with a clutch master cylinder swap (still pending for me).

Can you please check? I've searched (albeit not hard) and not turned up anything. I'm picking up my next S2k this Sunday and will want to wire up a cutoff that plays well with the SRS system.

Congrats, Todd! What did you end up with?

Nothing yet. Am looking at a Silverstone AP1 that needs a little work. You know me, after parting with my last project car it wouldn't be long before I got the bug again.

I just got a lead on the switch:

AOI Electronics
4028 Rufe Snow
Fort Worth
888 903 0004

Thanks to TX_Phantom for the info.

^ I think there's a How-To in the UTH forum, too. I saw somebody just ask about it in there recently, so there should be a thread near the top. It had details on contacting American Honda for the necessary paperwork (though I'm not sure what that's actually for), and I guess they send you instructions or something.

I think the only down side of the AP2 vs the AP1 is the short 1st and 2nd gears. Only important if you want to autocross it.
Yeah, I wonder about that. If you do a breakdown from this year
