Back from Colorado
Well, I'm back from my 10-day offroad trip to Ouray, CO.
Had a FAN-DAMN-TASTIC time. I sure wish I had the S2000 with me for those twisty mountain roads on the way home (though the car couldn't do what we went there to do... which was drive over large rocks).
Between having a 5000 pound truck with oversized mud tires, only 170hp (can you say underpowered? - and that's BEFORE the 13000-foot altitude sucks your power away), and having totally removed the factory anti-sway bars (much better offroad), the pavement roads kinda sucked.... but the views from the top of the passes were A-M-A-Z-I-N-G.
Gallery of pics HERE
A few choice pics:
I don't know how this looks to someone who hasn't been there - but it's the scariest thing you'll ever do. VERY steep, wet, narrow, rough, and angled out over 1000's of feet of dropoff. People slip off this road and die from time to time... but MAN was it cool. That's Telluride we're looking down on:
"The Wall" on Poughkeepsie Gulch trail.... a few of us had to get winched up this one due to the mud stealing our traction:

Yea, for anyone who's offroaded you can tell that drive is wicked scary. Never make this your first offroad experience
Where is that house? That rocks (literally)!

Apparently a ton of people get married there. I can see why.
It is halfway down Black Bear Pass... but you can get to it from the bottom if you're not an offroader. The hard part of the trail (and the part that is one-way only) is above the falls.
