It begins again...
I'm going back to school in august at UTD. i'll be in the full-time Cohort MBA program. i've been out of school since '02, and am looking forward to be back in that sort of setting. its amazing how much priorities change, and how i'm excited to be back in an academic setting learning. the cohort program is cool, because its the only affordable full time program in dallas, and i'll get all the full time benefits like career fairs and interviews, and they set up internships over the summer.
do any of you dallas MBA's have any graduate school tips or pointers? i've got the wedding and the house buying both out of the way, so i'll be able to focus 100% on school. what should i be on the look out for?
i'm excited!

My wife read your post and wanted me to remind you that the wedding is only the FIRST part of a long, happy, and healthy marriage. Building a marriage takes a great deal of time, effort, and sacrifice, but will reap lifelong rewards. Don't neglect your wife while pursuing your MBA.

we're doing pretty good. we've been together for almost 8 years and living together for 3. i've learned my role in this relationship a looooong time ago.
i supported her while she was in law school. (for 3!!! years.) she already knows that my priorities will be changing for the next 20 months.
College became a "hobby" of mine in my pursuit to continually improve and be at the top of my game. BA, BS, MS, MD, PhD, residencies, and fellowship all while working full time and supporting a family. Goal now--->retire before 40!
My advice would be to make graduate school FUN! Study hard, but study fun, like a challenging game. Grad school is unlike undergrad and in that it is a more mature learning environment. Incorporate your new knowledge into your daily life. MBA should be a piece of cake. Use the internet resources and an online library. Good luck (and have FUN)!

I went back to get my MBA full-time at SMU a year ago. Just completed my first year about a month ago.
As long as you go to class and do the work on time, it should be pretty easy. Lots of case analyses etc. Have you decided what you are going to concentrate on?
Also, I suggest you join all the clubs that interest you and go to seminars the school throws. Great way to learn more and make connections.

I need to get back in the game before I don't want to go to school anymore. But I have so many other things I would like to get to as well. Mainly a house...
Good luck -- seems like a MBA would be more fun then an undergraduate degree. I hated taking core classes. Bleh!

Keep us posted, i'm thinking about doing my mba, been out since '03, but spent most the time in between looking for a job, didn't want to get an mba without having any real work experience.
been working for a year now, would like to take a class or 2 a semester.
utd alumni aswell.
i also read somewhere that it's a good idea to get your bachelors and masters at different schools, has anyone else heard of this and why it is a good idea?
