Best rout to get to TMS
I know I know its NASCRAP. But I got some free tickets. I am drving from Tyler(east of Dallas). What is the best way to get to Texas Motor Speedway. I think everybody from Dallas and East Texas will be taking 114. So I was debating taking a longer way around. I was thinking of going from 183W to 820 to 35N from Fort Worth. Do you guys think that would be any quicker. Or should I just suck it up and crawl on 114.

Head up 114 at 3am. Serious. Just bring munchies and beer and hang out when you get the track.

There is no good way to get to the track on the day of a NASCAR race...earlier is better. I live in Flower Mound so I usually go to TMS on FM1171. Traffic will be directed by law enforcement at all major intersections within miles of the track.

Me and dominox heading out there tomorrow probably around 8am. I called to TMS and they said just try to be there 4-5 before the race. I lived on I30-East so the best and only route for me and you is 114.

spelling pwns me(route vs. rout).
How about going North on 35 to Denton and then coming down 35S towards the track. Don't you think that it will have less traffic?

i went to last years race (free tix also), and had a good time. we got to go in the pre race 'champion's village' or something and talk with the drivers, and had pit passes. all in all it was fun. and you really see how low tech those cars are. granted, they're not anywhere near stock, but they are much more basic than anything on the road today. it is truly a driver's race.

Don't do 183W to 820W - that's a real nightmare (I used to live there) on normal days and it'll be way worse on race day.
I'd say take 20W all the way across to 287N, then take that up to 35W-N. Either that or better yet, take 20W all the way to 820 on the west side of Ft. Worth, then swing back north/east on 820N to 35W-N. 35W-N turns into a parking lot all the way from downtown, so it's probably quicker (and certainly easier) to drive on past it and loop around on 820 from the west side. You exit to the left from 820W to 35W-N and traffic should be shorter on that route.
Honestly, I'd probably get up really early and try and beat the crowd.
