in reference to the above comment, I seriously don't find anything offensive about Wildncrazy's invite. it would seem that there are certain elements of this forum that are far too sensitive about the individual groups. It's no secret that there are subgroups within the, "greater DFW S2000" group...and since this is our primary means of communication amongst each other, there should be nothing wrong with directing the activities toward the more specific subgroups. I know that if some of you in east Dallas/Garland/Rockwall were doing something, I wouldn't get offended. I wouldn't go, but that wouldn't be a personal issue, but rather because I really don't want to drive that far when I have an already established group nearby.
As for things like Autocrosses, large group meets, etc...those are things that we all tend to do as one larger corporate DFW group, and that should be okay as well.
I don't take it personally if some of y'all have fun without me...I can't make it to everything...nobody really can. That's just the reality of it all.

Hopefully, we can all be civil toward one another again, maintain a larger corporate unity, while still upholding and developing the sanctity of the smaller area subgroups...

those are just my thoughts
MisterMatt, I agree with you. There's nothing wrong with having events in Dallas, events in Fort Worth, events in Grapvine, etc. Or Tyler, Ennis, Tioga, Mineral Wells, Cresson... I've gone to events in all these locations. What I do have a problem with and found offensive is Wildncrazy calling a friend of mine "beyond insane" for moving an autox planning meeting from Irving to Richardson. (It was because a key organizer for our autox events had a previously forgotten engagement that day, and that spot was much more convenient. At rough guess, the change in venue inconvenienced about half of the 16 attendees, but not a single one of them complained.) And then he turns around and deliberately excludes Dallas area owners in his paintball invitation. Granted, it's not like he said "Dallas county residents cannot attend," he simply said "how about an event for the FW people." I personally don't have any issue with it, I just found it rather hypocritical to complain about a particular behavior, then immediately engage in it. (Saying "How about a FW area paintball battle?" would have been much, much better.)

We have always made a point to spread out events. Such as Joe T Garcias in FW, Buca di Beppo's in Southlake, Addison stuff, Lake Texoma, Richardson stuff, The Grand in Irving, a garage tour in Mansfield, Main Event and Sneaky Pete's in Lewisville, Gaylord and Spring Creek BBQ in Grapevine, La Hacienda in Colleyville, BD's Mongolian in Las Colinas, weekend tours in Austin/Fredricksburg, drive/lunch to Muenster, poker run to Granbury, drive from Euless to Hudson Oaks...

So to recap, the fact that a Ft Worth area paintball event is being organized is great, but us being accused of intentionally being exclusive, or inadvertently inconsiderate, is something I find offensive. (And patently contrary to reality.)

are you serious dude? you can read into his post all you want but to think he said "how about something for the ftw people" means he was excluding dallas residents is RIDICULOUS!

I didn't read some of the original posts, but when I first read the original post in the paintball thread, I didn't really see anything wrong with it. Maybe he was intentionally trying to exclude east side people, but if he was, I didn't read it that way. I just figured that due to the location he chose, he assumed that only FtW people would be interested. I know I wouldn't drive 90 minutes to play paintball. But, if I was interested in playing, I know that the wording of the original post wouldn't have discouraged me from showing up, either.

I do agree with Mark's post about the autocross meeting. It was inappropriate for anyone to complain about the time or location of the meeting. The people involved with the event set the time & place of the meeting. If you can't attend due to the time/location, that's unfortunate, but it's impossible to accommodate everyone. That's life. If you're truly interested in being involved in the autocross planning and organization, I'm sure it's possible to get in touch with the relevant parties before/after that meeting and sort out the necessary details.

Really, is Dallas in FW? No... So how is only putting out an invite for the FW group NOT excluding the Dallas owners.

So you're going to call me immature and then start the name calling in the same sentence... yeah, ok.

doug, listen to yourself man

where in there did he say NO ONE FROM DALLAS IS ALLOWED?

the majority of auto happenings are in dallas, for someone to say "for the ftw guys" its simply going "hey check it out, a gathering to attend that is close to home finally!"

there is no ill will in his statement.... jesus...

the reason traffic is dead in this forum is because of THIS crap, not someone making a fake account and having a little bit of fun.

The whole thread has been edited, in one of his posts he even admitted to having not extended his invitation outside of the FW crew "because he didn't think anybody would want to drive that far", yet he is one of the very few members that have complained about distances for events.

He can do as he wishes, in my original post I just stated that it was a lame move to not invite the Dallas crew.

Unless you know the history of the thread then maybe you shouldn't be commenting on it...

I think the point is, Wildncrazy expressed his diapproval of the planning meeting being moved closer to Dallas. He then turned and organized 2 Fort Worth events. IIRC, we don't typiclaly post a meets for a specific part of the DFW area as Elistan points out.

I'm not taking any side but there is a least a partial amount of spite in what he did. I think it's fine to organize meet in FW FWIW.

If we're done here I will close this thread.
