I am considering doing a one day Fall Colors Driving Tour. Destination Talimena Scenic Drive Auto Tour - INFO

I just wanted to see if any others would be interested in joining me on this drive. Assuming the weather looks good, I am planning to leave relatively early on Friday, November 9th. Eat lunch around Mena, Arkansas and then cruise the 54 mile scenic drive - fall colors should be at or around peak. After the drive and picture taking, I will be heading back to Dallas and likely grabbing some dinner along the way. Overall, mileage will be a little over 500 for the day. To much driving for one day, some of you may want to consider making this a two day trip so that you can do the scenic drive both directions, hike and find some other fun roads.

Why Friday instead of Saturday or Sunday - Good question. For me the anwser is that there should be much less traffic on Friday in the middle of nowhere. Also, if I were doing the Hill Country Drive, I would be leaving on Friday anyway.

FYI on Hill Country Drive - It looks like there will not be a formal Hill Country Drive on November 9, 10 and 11 as originally planned. There may be a few folks however, that head south to the Hills just get away and drive.

I may try to hook up with you guys for the drive home as I will be heading back to Dallas from Springdale, AR on that very day. What is the route plan for the way back to Dallas?

 

I am very interested in this event. I don't know if I can do this on that Friday though.

A 2 day thing seems fun as well.

 

I'm very interested, but that Friday won't work. Amy's work has her enrolled in a course which is one Friday a month and she can't miss. This looks like a great drive though. We may try to do it Saturday or Sunday.
