Default Finally house shopping, suggestions on area?

OK, been here since August, finally got a contract on our house in Birmingham, inspection and appraisal are done, closing next week. Planning on moving the stuff, wife and kids over here in April so I went ahead and got a mortgage lined up over the weekend.
I'm going with a USDA mortgage program so I'll need to buy in a slightly more rural area of the burbs, Rockwall is a qualifying area and we really like it out there. I work in Terrell so its a convenient drive to work and the schools are great.
We are also looking in Fate/Royse City area as well, more house and less money.

Any recommendations on that part of town for decent housing? Several of the Rockwall houses I'm going to check out this week are on the south side of 30 on the north side of Hubbard just behind all the shopping/dining on the frontage roads, between the lake and 205/Goliad.

Any of you guys selling a house in that part of town?

Thanks!

I've heard the Park Cities are nice.

if you are looking to buy in royse city, i only recommended to stay within the city limits and inside Rockwall county. some of royse city homes/property reside on Hunt County farther east. otherwise, double the property tax for the appraisal.

-The homes behind Home Depot in Rockwall are recently new withtin past two decades, with great schools.
-Fate has some nice new home divisions located on HWY 66 by the post office.
You might find it nice there.

If my father commits to selling his home in Royse City i would put you up to it, but he is undecided.

Checked out WoodCreek in Fate tonight and loved it. We got from there to the Dalroock exit on 30 in 7 minutes, not far out and geat loking area and home prices.

City limits is usually a no-no with USDA loans.
