Fines
FYI...
Fine for an expired inspection sticker: $193. (Reduced to $103 if you get re-inspected in 15 days, or $10 if it's less than 3 months expired).
Fine for a valid Driver's License with an outdated address: $160. (Reduced to $70 if you get it updated in 15 days).
Moral of the story:
1) Don't let your inspection sticker lapse (beyond the grace period).
2) If your address on your DL is outdated and the officer asks you about it... Lie!
Have a nice day.

I feel your pain, I got a 266 dollar school zone speeding ticket the other day (thought it was 35mph not 20) and on top of that he tacked on a 109 dollar expired registration ticket for something like a 400 dollar total. Luckily the registration was only a month out and I got it fixed and will get it waived for 12 bucks but I'm still going to eat it on the speeding ticket.
Best of luck to you.
Best of luck to you.
now in feburary I got my tagged and inspected... tags expired 11/05 and inspection expired 08/05... I only had to pay the 10$ court cost for dismissal even though it was 5 months expired.
it must depend on the municiplaity..
without posting multiple replies....
on the DL addy.. it is perfectly leagal to maintain more than one residence. it is NOT legal to posses more than one DL... so you have your DL for your main (premanent residence) but I am at his local for at least the next month.
of course this may work easier for me since my residence, my DL and my insurance are ALL different addresses...

The penalties totally depend on municipal law. That sucks knowing you could be in several different municipalities in the period of a few minutes.
On westbound 183, I think you could cover the following in 30 minutes at the speed limit:
Dallas
Irving
Arlington
Ft. Worth (for a weird couple mile stretch)
Euless
Bedford
Hurst
Ft. Worth (again)

These cities are theiving bat rastards. I think if everyone was willing to serve out the time in county to protest the rising cost in fines, they'd reduce the fine costs since that's cheaper that 3 squares and a cot.
Edit: MXT - what city were you in?

This was in Murphy (barely). For those that know the area, it was on McCreary Road, near McMillan (about two blocks from my house). It was about 9am, so I guess the guy finished patrolling the school zones and had some time to kill before circling back by Starbuck's.
Yes, the blame goes on me for not maintaining proper inspection, etc... but I still think the guy should've let me go with a warning.
BTW... the officer mentioned that they'd been told to strictly enforce the DL Address issue by the Homeland Security Agency. But they can't enforce it if you just tell them that it's your current address or you just moved recently (very recently... not 9 months ago, which is what I told him).
