My eyes would be wide open from Plano to Irving on GBush Tollway to catch a glimpse.

oh wait...that is if you even get on GBTollway!
I use GB on Wednesday afternoons, Thursday mornings, and every other Monday morning.

The rest of the time it's Beltline to 75 North in the AM and Plano Parkway to Preston to Beltline in the PM.

Electric motors create almost peak torque from 1 RPM. I'm guessing that's where the advantage of this Prius is, corner exit speed.
If auto-x was all about torque, the Miatas would be losing every time. At the lower levels at least, I think agility and grip are a lot more important. Carrying speed as opposed to building speed seems a much higher priority. At higher levels, where you have huge tires AND power, I can see torque being more important.

Still, a Lotus Elise with low weight, no torque, and lots of grip and agility still does very well against monster cars with huge power, so I still don't see why the Prius would be any quicker (if at all) against an S2000. The only thing it has are huge, sticky tires (vs street tires on the S2000).

The Prius is a dog in a straight line, monster torque and all.

I simply stated that the one advantage of the the Prius is torque from a virtual standstill which around a tight twisty autox course, would def. have an advantage against other cars. The rest of the Prius package isn't setup well enough to be a real contender in my mind so it's a moot point. But on a tight enough course, I can see the Prius maintaning a slight advantage. A'la CRX w/ massive torque curve.

Try hammering the throttle in 2nd gear around a pivot cone in an S2000, and you'll know exactly what it means to have torque. It's impossible to maintain average speed around something like that, and it feels like decades before he car picks up enough speed.

If you're really good, you can dump it back to 1st gear, but the 1st to 2nd upshift will nullify your power advantage. It's usually a wash in application at the autox...

I agree on your point about torque. I disagree about the main point when you consider the vehicle we're discussing - a Prius! It's a dog in a straight line so I don't see how a minor advantage around one or two cones would give it an overall advantage. The thing is, how long would it take to get to those one or two cones? An S2000 is significantly faster in general acceleration plus it is much more stable and tossable so I don't see the Prius winning the round based on one or two pivot cones.

I've driven a Prius and it was a dog, period. At no point did it feel faster than the S2000 and believe me, I know how much of a dog the S2000 can be in the wrong gear or at lower rpm.

Whenever possible, I try to avoid the highways when I'm in the S to avoid getting more rock chips in the paint at higher speeds.

Man is it lunch time yet - i'm starving.

Maybe these have juiced electric motors w/ transplanted Celica motors? I dont' know anything about these autocross Prius cars to be honest.

Not exactly the car I would want to own other than from work to home and to go to the local Greenpeace rally

I'm waiting to hear back from Cosmos as to why he thinks it'd be faster. It may be gutted and have 800000000 kW batteries for all I know. All I could find out is that it has 9" racing slicks and a harder suspension and some bracing.

I'm still waiting for Honda to make a hybrid with the capacity of the Prius without the horrible dynamics.
