Sloppy thieves. Why cut the top so many times?

I think the first cut was the one down low by the back window...stupid people probably thinking the door lock was near the top and end of the door. After they obviously didn't find it there, I suspect they slashed the middle to be able to reach down inside. Either way, it left me momentarily broken hearted.

 

Then that just proves they weren't very knowledgeable about the s2000 if they though the lock could be reached from behind the seat... Not even MJ could reach that with his long arms.

They probably knew your car from driving past, saw what lugs you had and got a key (making it easier to steal), and I'm pretty sure they probably had help 2+ people.
