Had my closest encounter yet last night with a lightning strike.. It hit my next door neighbors chimney, caught it on fire, blew sheetrock all over her house.. as well as bricks from the mantel piece etc.. She had a baby in a baby crib in the next room and it moved the crib 4 feet! Also all of her electronics are gone...

I was in the room closest to her house (about 6 ft between houses) and i jumped about 27 feet in the air when it hit ... Actually, i was watching Texas Chainsaw / dozing off when it hit so it really scared the living sh!t out of me..... All the TV's / monitors in our house where pink/blue/purple for about an hour after.. My Cable modem, Router, and i believe mobo are all gone...


Anyway, just thought i would share.. I have never had it hit so close before and couldn

 

And you say this isnt the 1st time it hit close to you?

Dude, glad you're alright, but do you think you could edit your will so I can inherit your S if you die due to a lighning strike?

that sheet happened to me when i was a tod.

 

Yeah, it's scary stuff. When I was younger (at my parents' house), my dad had a CB antenna just outside my window. I was watching TV when it got struck, and it scared me so much, I think I jumped all the way across the room before my feet touched the ground. We looked outside after that & the antenna was still glowing red-hot.

And, yeah... it toasted most of our electronics. TV, microwave, etc, etc.

 

We got hammered by thunder and lightning last night here in Lufkin. I thought we were going to get tornadoes at first, due to the wind speed and lack of total cloud cover (but yet tons of thunder and lightning). The sky was just pounding but no rain, at first, and then it really started to cloud over. It rained HARD for about an hour, with thunder and lightning a few times a minute. Knocked power out for about two hours as well. Fun! Sort of. Once I found the candles and matches and then went to buy some flashlights.

 

I forgot there was a huge storm system moving our way and i went out in the S for a short bit only to find myself hauling ace to get her back in the garage! Was a fun trip home to switch cars while sliding around on those wet streets... One road was so slick it was like being on ice!
