Default HU install...

Okay well my R32 / Si got me spoiled on xxx Watt sound systems + ipod / USB hook ups etc so i went ahead and got some new speakers / HU for my new S.

I ended up with:

Kenwood KDC-x794

Polk Audio DB651s

Crutchfield wire Harness

I even bought the PAC link, although i think i might just return it.. i never use those console controls.
PAC LINK

Anyways, the speakers should be no problem, but having never done a HU before, im abit nervious about the harness (i have to splice the stock one correct?). Would anyone be willing to assist / direct me for a cold beer?

If you got the crutchfield harness then its a sinch! The wires are either color matched to the HU or actually labeled "Right Speaker +" and such, then reference the HU wires and presto! Shouldn't take even a noob 30 mins to wire it up properly.

Splice? No. Disconnect stock harness from OEM head unit. Wire the crutchfield harness to kenwood HU harness, then PLUG crutchfield harness to oem harness, done! There will be NO NO NO splicing of anything OEM!

Nothing OEM will be spliced but you may have to splice the supplied harness to a harness adapter if the supplied harness doesn't plug straight in.

I used to splice into the harness to save a few bucks, but I started just spending $10-$15 at Best Buy or wherever for a female coupler for the Honda harness (Same thing as what you have from Crutchfield I'm guessing) so I can switch back to OEM easier.

I can probably help you out next weekend if you're around the Fossil Creek/Keller area and don't mind waiting.

And FWIW I wouldn't bother with the PAC Link, if you want the dash controls get a Modifry. I have the PAC and none of the buttons do what they're supposed to except volume control. Mute skips the song, skip song mutes, ect ect.... This would require splicing into the OEM harness though if you chose to keep it.

Sorry, just checked your link to the wire harness. That's all you'll need. If you know how to solder just get an OEM wiring diagram and solder the power to power, ground to ground, ect.

From what i can tell by looking at the picture, the OEM plug plugs right into that, and i have to attach it to the HU (crimping the wires together?) im sure it will make sense when i get it.
