Wow! Thanks for all the great information; I feel like I practically know the place now.

I'm amazed so far at how cheap it is to live there! CLT is a lot more expensive. Traffic is not a big issue, since its pretty bad in CLT as well. We currently live about 20 miles from downtown and it can take 45min to 1.5 hrs to get there in traffic.

The bad news is that they have also offered Chicago to Bryan as well. I'm pushing for Dallas personally. He has no idea how freaking cold it gets in Chicago!

Glad there is another Huskerfan on the board!

Chicago!

I've spent a few days there on business, and hated it. The wind really is terrible.

That was my reaction as well.

I've tried to explain the whole weather issue and he doesn't get it. He keeps saying "if the weather is so bad why do so many people live there." Ugh!

Well, it was 75 here today and that was with mostly cloudy skies. It is still 66 at my house here at 10:15pm. On the other hand, as others have pointed out, it can change quickly. The low is supposed to be in the 20s by Friday and highs in the 40s on Saturday. You just never know this time of year!

I'll chime in.

I live about 2 miles from cdelena and have to agree that living just a few miles north of downtown is absolutely bad-ass. I'm a stone's throw from hundreds of bars, restaurants, killer shopping, bike trails, a lake, etc. If chain restaurants, neighborhoods like grids, SUVs, and commercialism are your bag, then look at some suburbs like Plano, Allen, Frisco, or McKinney. If you want culture, less traffic, and a more urban lifestyle (but far from the likes of NYC, Chicago, etc.), then look in our area. No offense to the suburbanites, but myself being a single twenty-something guy, the 'burbs make NO sense for me.

Anyway, don't know how old you and your husband are, but it would take a lot to get me to move from where I currently live.

Though I live in Colleyville , I actually agree completely with Ryan. When I first moved here and was "on my own" (the Tees Girls were still living in Tyler), I lived on Bueno Vista near the Temmings. I loved it. I could walk or bike everywhere I wanted to go.

Regards,

Al; wife, 3 daughters, 4 dogs, owner of an SUV, and thus fully ensconced in middle-class suburbia .

If you are interested in trees and hills you may want to look at Highland Village. Its about 12,000 people, just north of Flower Mound, abuts Lake Lewisville, and is part of the Lewisville school system. Take a look at this link from the Vintage boad go get a feel for this area.

Thanks for all the great replies. It shows how great a community you all have. However, it looks like we are going to Chicago. Granted its a great city, but so freaking cold!!! I lobbied hard for Dallas!

So the next step I guess is snow chains for the S!

You should get a caravan to the Wake the Dragon in April. Its a bit of a haul but completely worth it
