[QUOTE=Tx_Phantom,Oct 6 2005, 10:18 AM] I am having Toyota of Plano research their records, the used car manager said they would have changed the oil before handing the car over to me.

It has less to do with the dealership, and more to do with Honda. Our dealership wants to help Mark, but when they reported that the car was 4 Quarts low on oil after inspection, Honda "assumes" it was poorly maintained. I suggested he find maintainence reciepts and Honda will re-review it. Dealerships would love it if it is waranteed...the service department is guaranteed business. If forced to fix it on his own, Mark will most likely do it elsewhere, where it will cost him less - and the dealership won't get the business. I did everything I could to help...and I'm not in service.

I hate to say it, but Scott's point is valid. If someone brought me their high performance sports car, said "there's a rattle and I need an oil change", and it was underfilled by almost 80%, I'd assume negligence as well. Especially if the owner claimed they bought the car two years ago and this was going to be the car's 2nd oil change since they bought it.

It's not hard to check the oil. I typically do it every other time I fill up with gas, even on my 'pedestrian' vehicles. A car is usually the second most expensive purchase a person will make in life (first is a house) - shouldn't you take a little care with that purchase?

I'd also advise against letting the bank repo it. The ding on your credit is something that will haunt you for a long time to come.

uhhh if u have only had the oil changed twice, it shouldnt be that hard to find 2 receipts

even if u dont have them, the place where u got the work done should have them

either u are giving up far far too easy or something doesnt add up

You've driven the car 10k so far. Given hoda's instructions you only need to show 2 oil changes. (7500 miles recommended intervals...which is BS on 9K rpm car) You've got at least one from Toyota of plano, and your needing one for the last one. You're right, it doesn't matter the intervals between the two oil changes because Honda can't know how your car was driven, so theoretically any oil change receipt prior to your problems should work. Did you try getting a reciept from anyone? I looked, and I don't have any.

This took me a while, because i could not find the receipt, but I will be loaded with ammunition now.

07/08/2005 Sale JIFFY LUBE #2295(Vehicle Expenses) $25.53

I found this sifting through my credit card online transaction register. What I found out was that the Jiffy Lube in Coppell, HAS SINCE CLOSED, which is why I was so confused.

Once I have the records fropm Toyota of Plano and the Jiffy Lube receipt at lunch time today, I'd like to hear Honda's excuse then.

Tx

Hate to say it, but...Jiffy lube probably is the place that f***ed you. They don't exactly have the best reputation. I would start there. That explains the crappy filter on your car!

***Just heard from one of the techs, places like Jiffy Lube,Kwik Kar...They've replaced several engines before. Looks like Jiffy Lube's Buying you a new Engine. I would get a hold of someone in their corporate office.
