Rear bumper defect
I purchased my 05 S2000 2 months ago without noticing a defect in the bumper. I saw it recently and check the other S2000 in the dealer's lot and they all have it.
The defects are shown in the link below:

I took it back to the dealer, they sent me to the body shop. The best they can do is to stretch out the metal mounting bracket right below the trunk.
It really pisses me off that a $30k car will have a defect like this. Come on!
What's up with that??!

That's a large gap! What are you going to do? Have they repaired this same defect in other 2005's? Would replacement parts (new bumper, etc) end up looking the same? Has Honda issued a TSB on this? Let us know what happens.
I'll be shopping for a 2005 in a few weeks and watching for this fit problem.
Thanks for the photos!

My 04 has the same gaps, which like you I didn't notice until after I bought the car. I find it hard to understand why Honda would think this level of fit is acceptable.
How does it look now that it has been "fixed"?

theres a thread on the s2000 talk about this. alot of ppl said honda fixed it on site. i dunno though i have the same thing on the passenger side. but ont he driver side the bumper and rear panel are peeling right where it meets. ppl say its from rubbing to hard together.

I haven't given them the o.k to fix it because stretching the metal bracket will stretch the trunk out a little. I didn't want to do that before checking what other S2000 owners have done.
I pushed for a new bumper but ran into lots of bureaucracy and finally a 'NO'.
