Default red light camera question

ok so the situation, im coming off the freeway, light is green, i get close (going about 50) and it turns yellow, i (in 6th gear) throw it into 4th, then realize i wont make it and remember its a camera light, slam on my brakes and stop with half the car of the line and half the car on the other side of the line and i see the flashes of the lights. at first i was just thinking ****! i got enough tickets already... then my buddy sitting in the passenger seat goes.. dude i dont think they got you, i go what do you mean?

he thinks the cameras are aimed to get the license plate as the car is going thru the intersection, so me stopped, right at the line, wasnt in the field of view so the most they got of my car was possibly the front end and no plate?

what do you guys think of this?

Also are these just like parking tickets, you just pay or can these go on your record and raise insurance?

[QUOTE=YellowStarS2k,Jul 12 2007, 10:40 PM]Apparently you can get a red light violation for turning right on red.

officer's review the videos before they send the tickets out, sometimes they flash if you're just going fast and it thinks you aren't going to stop. you should be alright though

**** that!

utter bullshit!

right on red is legal as long as there isnt a sign that says no right on red for starters, and second off the original post... he didnt actually run the light so it should also be contested...

The cameras always take a few pictures for a reason, they allow the pictures to capture your movement across the lights. If the few photos taken shows you werent moving on the red then youre okay.

i thought that too but i think the law is you can turn on red but you have to stop first. i just got 1 of those in farmers branch like 3 weeks ago. court date is on Tuesday well see what they say.

The way I've heard it is that if you are actually over the white line as it turns from yellow to red and you run it you won't get a ticket because you were already in the intersection when the light turned red and you need to get out of the intersection to not be in danger and whatnot. The red light cameras have caused an increase in rear end collisions because of situations such as this where the persons were going fast and had to come to a stop especially since they knew there was a red light camera (basically no one wants a $75 fine so with the fear of that they will brake instead of continuing to go through a yellow/red). You didn't actually run the red light so I wouldn't think you would be ticketed.

Hey those are my red light ticket pics!
But yes, there is video. I'm assuming the flashes and pictures just to ensure that the license plates are clear.
