Thumbs down Speed Traps on PDA

In the Quick this morning, on page 10, this is a "free" service, that will notify you of a speed trap by alerting you on your gps enabled smart phone, windows mobile, or blackberry! I'm skeptical of anything free unless advertisers are paying for the site but it sounds interesting.

Trapster.com

Apprently, if you see a speed trap, you punch in code into your phone and the trapster database will record your gps location thus indicating a speed trap is in that area. Trapster will maintain that location for an hour assuming that after an hour, the cop will have moved on.

Any use this yet?

The article said the police didn't seem to mind the service since it causes people to slow down. In Highland Village, it isn't uncommon to see an unmanned cop car sitting there. I don't have a radar detector so I'm not sure if they leave the radar gun on or not but the cars sheer presence makes me check my speed, every time. I just know the one time that I think it is unmanned will be the day it IS manned.

Well I for one use it, and it's great! Of course I should disclose I'm not entirely unbiased, as it's my system/company! ;-)
