Default top speed

coming back from Austin, there wasn't very much traffic, so I wanted to see how fast the S can go.

Got up to 154 at 8k, then rpm went up another bar and no speed increase.

Is 154 the limit or did I need to stay on it for a little while longer?

Thanks.

I have hit the rev limiter in 5th at the start finish line of TMS. Never got the opportunity to shift up to see if it went any faster

that's more than me.. I only have gotten to 150.. a couple of time. maybe there's a cut-off difference between the AP1 and AP2?

Interesting. I was near 8,000rpm in 6th gear in my AP2, speedo said somewhere around 151-152. I believe the 'official' top speed is 156mph.

So, the AP2 can come very, very near to it's rev limiter, but the AP1 is drag limited to it's top speed?

actually I think you're onto something because I still had RPM's to go... fastest I've gone with the top down is 140.. too turbulant...

Published top speed on most sites is 150 mph.
I read the mechanical limits is some where around 187mph.

Magazines show 155 for top speed. There was a post a few years back from a driver who said he did 165 MPH on the autobahn. Sounds fishy.

I had my top down when I maxxed out 5th. How fast is that anyway? I was too close to the wall and was having to brake for a slaloom coming up very quickly to look at the speedo.
