Well, I still don't have my car. Parts have been a contributing factor but three weeks is just too long.
Of course my differential has not beed checked out yet. They have decided to change the lube and include a Honda additive used to quiet a similar problem in the CRV. If this fails to correct the problem the Service Mgr. promised to simply install a new differential to be ordered in advance.
Wish me luck.

What's the latest word Stefan? Are they ever going to give you the car back? Mine is in the shop right now, and I should have it back tomorrow or the next day. And then Friday I get my tint, bass, and alarm installed

My car was test driven yesterday. The clutch and tranny are fine. The differential was low on lube and was still making noise. There appears to be a leaking bearing seal. After refilling the noise remained. Looks like the differential will be replaced when a new one is available. I should have the car to drive again this evening and return for service when parts arrive.

Well I finally got my car back this evening. The TSB service did the trick. After a few noisy shifts (it actually did grind again) everything settled in nicely. The new clutch disk is very quiet.
As I suspected the differential is still bad, making as much noise as ever. Vandergriff intends to replace it when another is available. A slow leak of differential lube probably cooked it. When checked initially it was below the plug level although I do not know how much remained. Looks like I'm in for another round of service soon.

Oh no Stefan!! You had to give up that loaner Civic....what a bummer!! I'm glad you got your S2000 back (couldn't ask for better weather). Hopefully they will be able to replace the differential in a much shorter time frame. After driving my S2K, do you think your new clutch disk is quieter than mine? Hopefully I will not have to get this done.

I think the only TSB (for now) I will be getting fixed is the driver's window motor problem. I hope that can be done in a day.

The Civic loaner is gone

The bad news is the grind is back with a vengence. If I rev match (do the work for the synchros) there is no problem, otherwise it crunches or grinds on most shifts to second gear.

Ivan,

The new clutch disk is actually quieter than yours. I understand it may still get louder with time.

Did a demo drive with the service manager and later the service tech to demonstrate the grind. Both agreed it's time to repeat the TSB procedure. I'm still waiting on a call from Honda. My service tech tells me a project manager from AHM has been watching these threads and may contact me. In the interim nothing is happening. My differential is now starting to "pop" in addition to all the warbling. I'm starting to doubt my car can be repaired in time to go to Indy.

Nearly six weeks have passed since I took my S2000 to the dealer for TSB service and differential repairs. Now I'm just waiting for the dealer and Honda to decide how to proceed since the grind fix failed. I understand the District Mgr, Parts & Service Mgr. and the Tech Line are scheduled to make a call tomorrow. Maybe I'll learn something afterwards...
