Default Turbine Drive - Sunday August 23rd - 6:30pm

"Toms Turbine Drive"

It is that time again! It has been almost 2 months so I am wondering who is getting the itch to go for a drive?

If you haven't seen the windmills it is a sight to see. This route has many long sweepers and breathtaking views not normally associated with North Texas. We will get to drive near the Red River where there is light to no traffic. When there is traffic, the locals generally heed and pull over to let the group pass. Larger groups can be held very easily. There are 3 stop signs and 2 stoplights on this drive so that nobody should get separated. This is a very common route for motorcycle and other sports car clubs to have an event. I am going to vary the route from last time so it will be a totally new experience for those who have been on the previous drives, you are still in for a treat!

We will leave as soon as we can (I am thinking 6:45 ish) from the Chevron in Sanger (on the west side of I-35) This will put us exactly where we need to be and avoid all the traffic and get right to the good roads! Then we will go through roads on North Denton County, Montague County, and Cooke County.

After the drive we will arrive at Doc's around 8:30-8:45 depending if we take any "Detours"

Doc's Bar and Grill is a great place to eat and we can either eat off the menu or eat off of this special menu that my cousin who is a Chef from New Orleans thought up for us. I will be able to secure the entire upstairs section to ourselves and maybe even a hott waitress also

Here are the Choices for food:
1) Strip Steak, Au Poiure Cauce, Butter Sauteed Red Potatoes, Green Beans (cooked in butter, garlic, and fresh local grown herbs)

2) German Sausage Sampler: Smoked German Sausage, Bratwurst, Sauerkraut, Red Cabbage, German Potato Salad, Toasted Rye Bread, and Dusseldorf Mustard

3) Or just order off the normal menu which has everything from fresh made soups, salads, burgers, wings... :blahblah: Bar food

All Makes and Models welcome

Dang it, I'll be in Savannah then. My wife had made me promise to take her on the next drive, but 40th wedding anniversary trumps turbine drive.

Thanks for organizing. I am itching for a scenic drive, but all I can think about is twisty roads in CA. Count me as a likely Yes for this drive.

So what kinda of speeds does the drive reach? I've never been and would like to go.

Val's Tip of the day

Check your oil level before the drive

The speeds are totally dependent on the driver in front of you. I try to take it easy on the straights around 75-80...You are welcome to drive in the 3rd position behind Joe and try and keep up.

I'm just throwing this out there...but you should check all the fluids in your car before strenuous activity.
