I've driven a few on the track and they are very fun cars but not worth the money IMO. Not practical to be a good street car and too fragile to be a long term track car. I've seen two Elises break suspension components on the track and wreck. I've seen others that have clamshell damage from typical off track excursions. No doubt they are fantastic autocross cars though and if that was what I was planning on doing with a car, they would be high on my list.
My uncle is selling his (he bought a second Vette) and I briefly thought about buying it, but even at a bargain price I couldn't do it.

I also saw an Exige break the back-end in the middle of the track at MSR. It wasn't an off-track excursion, it started to slide mid corner coming out of big bend and bang something gave in the back and it slide off the track with the rear wheels all askew.

They are awesome cars, but very single purpose. They make the S2000 seem like a luxury car by comparison. Then again, that is their appeal, I suppose!

I prefer a C6 for similar money (with discounts) as it's comfy and set-up correctly, it's faster than an Elise at least on road courses, not so sure about autox.

And you get to buy $300 rear tires

08 C6 is really nice, I just couldn't see myself in a vette.

We forgot to mention the brakes!

While I still think the Elise is a very eye-catching car, one drive at the limit in Clovis's car was all it took to scratch the Elise off my "cars I'd like to own" list.

You should try it again with the carbotech pads on it now, it grabs instantly like the RX-8 and I didn't have any problems when I did a run in it at MW.

Since the first time I drove one cost me north of $700 (did I mention that the Elise is too damn flimsy as well? ), I have absolutely zero interest in getting behind the wheel of another one. Thanks for the offer, though.
