Is anyone staying overnight in a hotel for this?

I'm thinking about it as I'll have a 2 hour drive so that means a very early start. It would be good to meet up in the bar the night before! :alcy:

I am, but my journey time is triple yours.

Anyone recommend any near by hotels? Better still a postcode for this place?

Cheers

There's a Travelodge nearby which a few folk have stayed in on previous days. Click on the Google Maps Link and do a "search nearby". The link gives you most of the postcode, not that it's much help with Satnav as it'll take you to the wrong place. Just go to J7 of the M11 and follow the signs for North Weald Market. The entrance to the airfield is on Merlin Way.

s2konroids 09-21-2011 08:51 AM

Thanks, however i couldn't get onto s2ki today. I didn't want to leave it till last minute so I've already booked a hotel in old harlow? which is just over 15 minutes drive away think its called 'The Greenman Inn'.

Are there any nearby garages that sell 99ron stuff? (Either Tesco Momentum or Shell Vpower 99)?

Also what's the recommend tyre pressure, i run bridgestones re050's on the front (currently @32psi) and Hankook Evo on the back (currently at 34psi).

Looking forward to this, I'm just praying it doesn't rain.

676 miles for me (there and back)

Thanks

The Loon 09-21-2011 10:16 AM

An air pump is available on site to borrow.

There is a Shell close by.

loftust 09-21-2011 10:18 AM

If anyone has the payment link, please PM me, as I deleted it :(

If you see a 7' man approaching you in a 2' dressing gown, run..

Of course, there's still plenty of mileage left in that old chestnut yet! :D

Chestnut! Buy a longer one next time, then they'll be no chance of seeing any chestnuts!

Azbola 09-22-2011 04:33 AM

Woohoo, I'm in!

Nearly missed this as I was away for a long weekend. Love these days and am a little bit addicted to them....

Now just need to decide whether to do it on my nearly finished Toyos and totally destroy them, or put on some brand new bridgestones first.
Think it would be best to just finish the existing ones, but if it rains... well, should be interesting with about 2mm left.

s2konroids 09-23-2011 02:24 PM

Can anyone tell me how north weald is from London?, was thinking of spending a little time there on monday, so i guess a train would be best? - I dont want to use the car.

Cheers

AquilaEagle 09-24-2011 12:51 AM

Hardly any distance at all AJ, train from Stanstead or Bishop's Stortford :)

s2konroids 09-24-2011 02:18 AM

 ta.

lovegroova 09-24-2011 02:43 AM

Train from Harlow would make more sense https://www.s2ki.com/s2000/public/st...t/thumbsup.gif 30 mins to Liverpool Street.

Timetable here. http://www.nationalexpresseastanglia...e+16+-+web.pdf

Go to Liverpool Street for the City, or change at Tottenham Hale and take the Victoria Line to the West End. Quite a few Tube Lines closed that weekend, so check before travelling http://www.tfl.gov.uk/livetravelnews...r/default.aspx

s2konroids 09-26-2011 12:27 PM

Thanks.

I take it a half hour journey on the train?

I think that this has already been answered, but the max pressure is on the tyre sidewall - my Bridgestones max is 51 psi. I'll have a decent little Michelin cigarette-lighter pump that you can use.
