Default 10yr service

My S is due it's 10yr service and having not been overly impressed with the main dealer services I'm taking it to the independent who does all the little bits on it.

It's only a minor service on this one but I'm a little nervous about the Oil Filter - I'm assuming it will be a generic one and after a quick search, a few have had problems in the past with the OEM one with regards to tightening, let alone a 3rd party one..

Am I best just getting the OEM one for him to fit with all the instructions on, I assume whatever filter he gets will be the right one to fit but I'm just a bit nervous?

Thoughts appreciated

The fitter does the tightening not the filter! The engine runs at a pretty high oil pressure. so the filter needs to be tight. There is a torque spec for it look on the tech faqs, also I remember seeing a home made mod involving a jublee clip and bit of metal fixed as a stop to prevent rotation, worth searching the treads if you are worried. Opie are a good source for oil & filter.

Turning it 7/8th of a turn after the gasket meets the block.

I did mine last week and its pretty easy as each of the 8 'sides' are numbered so you know exactly how much to turn it.

Thanks all...

My local dealer has them in stock and they are cheaper than I first thought so will get those I think...

The other option as above is a service pack from opie, but I would still have the same concerns about an OEM ''approved'' filter and the tightening etc so will probably stick to Helfrauds for Oil and Honda for filter...
