16s or 17s...?
OK, so I've recently bought my S2000 and thinking about changing the wheels.
Trouble is I've never had a rear wheel drive car and not really sure how much impact the wheel size would have on the cars handling...
It's on stock 16s just now but thinking about going up to 17s. Just not sure what difference, if at all, it will make the to way the car drives/handles or if I should just get a set of 16s
I've read the big write-up on offsets and tyre sizes etc so I'm pretty comfortable with that just want to know what other people have experienced running wheel sizes other than stock.
Thanks

Swings and roundabouts really.
Most people prefer the feel of 17s when they've switched from the 16s, despite the additional weight.
If you've never had a RWD car before, the best thing to do first is learn to drive it properly, rather than messing about with it.
Spending a couple of hundred on driver training will give you more speed, safety and confidence than spending £500 on some new wheels.

Best motoring tested both the 16" oem and 17" oem wheels on a 2000 model, and according to them, there was no difference.
I personally noticed a big difference with 17s, but thats cuz I had dodgy tyres on the 16s.
17's also look alot better !!

I chose 17s for the looks more so than any performance gains, haven't put them on yet but have some massive sidewalled tyres on at the moment (235/60/16) and (in my head at least) seem to have reduced the gearing so it now accelerates slower... unsure how this would affect going up an inch in diameter and reducing sidewall to overall 16"OEM wheels though... probably not at all...
Does the extra sizes put any more strain on the differential during hard driving (as I personally don#t do the launching for fear of blowing up the diff)...

Driver training was something I was planning on doing next time I'm off work. Would like to treat myself to some new wheels before the summer though, for the same reason as Nickamsweet, so was just wanting a bit of advice really.

Try and get your mitts on some second hand OEM 17"s, they will serve you best IMO.
