Thumbs up 18 inch alloys

Hi all,

I just wanted to get a couple of opinions on the alloy wheels i have on my car.they are an 18inch multispoke silver alloy.im not to sure of the make, but the emblem in the center looks like a cannibis plant Now before i get called a or whatever,i would like to point out that they were on the car when i bought it.But regardless i think they look quiet well. There is a few things i would like to find out and im hoping those of you who know it all could help me or point me in the right direction

What are the pros and cons of having an 18 inch alloy?
How do they affect performance,handling,etc?
What is a good tyre for these wheels?
I would consider getting a 16 inch volk alloys, any opinions?

Thanks in advance

Wheels are unsprung weight, so the lighter the better

I didn't notice a major improvement when I went from the 18s i had to the Rota Grid 17s I have now.

However on the 35 profile 18s the turn in response was razor sharp. Zero tyre flex

I too bought the car with 18s and loved them. They look good and fill the arches pretty well. After reading all the negative comments regarding 18 inch wheels in here and after realizing that the offsets (+45 all around) and tyres (225 all around) weren't correct for the car, I decided to go for 17s. I found a set of OEM 06s in here and bought them. Without putting them on a scale, the 17s felt heavier, especially the rears and I was wondering whether I had done the right thing. Once fitted, all my worries went away. The performance advantage is barely noticeable but it's there. Handling wise, the car is transformed. Nowhere near as tail happy as it was before and I am much more confident in pushing it hard around corners. The ride is also very improved. The suspension feels much softer and it's a lot more drivable around our shitty roads. The car is transformed and I think the colour of the OEMs suits my MCB pretty well.
IMO 17'' wheels is the best compromise between looks and performance. HTH.

I love my 18's but they are forged and light. don;t go for 255 rear tes though - they stick too much! I'm going to 245 or even 235's when I change.
