The wheels make a difference, but I also think the 04+ is more understeer biased as opposed to oversteer bias for the early cars. Alignment settings + MY04 wheels will neutralise most of the differences.

I'm not unhappy about having an 04. Laptimes aren't wildly different and those are skilled drivers. If all i'm missing is a bit more 'edge' that's just fine for me.

And a different final drive, which will make the acceleration a fair bit quicker.

We have been over this quite a bit.

For launching, the final drive will give you that extra acceleration.

But then you have to change into second gear earlier and for that moment in time whilst you are in second, original FD guy is still in first, thus having more torque and being able to accelerate faster.

I won't go into it here, but there are lots of posts that explain how a final drive will not allow you to accelerate faster

I could not get my 06 to over-steer on the Andy Walsh day except on the 75mph+ high speed bends and by using 1st gear at low speeds and mashing the throttle.

All changed now though

Never noticed that before...

Stop the video at 51 seconds when it shows the upper front wishbone.

The wishbone lugs are braced on the 04 and the 99 spec arent:

My 99 spec:

Yup - I deleted my post after further reading, as I got it wrong and thought it would confuse if left up there.

You got in time to quote me.

But I accept you are correct.

You can theorise all you want, but the truth is in the pudding - so to speak. I'm having a 4.77 fitted and did lots of research before buying it. Those that have actually upgraded their diff report that the car accelerates faster. Youtube also has many examples of geared cars vs stock.

But that video shows an S with a driver vs an S with a driver and passenger.

Or am I missing the obvious?

Anyone got a link to the video of the Japanese test driver in an S, showing him heeling and toeing in? He compares he car to the NSX at one point, I recall. Can't find it on Youtube.

Did find this, though - is this the Puppy that used to be on the board, do you think?

That's him - it's when he got his Invidia.

Actually - clicking onto the pic itself to launch Youtube confirms it.
