Default 2002 Alpine Head Units?

Hello all! If you don't mind, I have a couple of questions...

Recently, Alpine released some of their 2002 head units here in the States. Specifically, I have been interested in the CDA-7894 (MP3 playback with dual illumination!) My first question is, does anyone know if a European version of this head unit (or similar) is/will be available? Which leads me to my second question...

I have been salivating over several of the Alpine head unit related threads on the UK side - specifically regarding the KCE-865B-R1 dash control interface. As you may or may not know, this interface is not compatible with North American Alpine head units. Forgive me for my ignorance, but is there any reason why I could not order an Alpine head unit (European version) and the interface from a UK online retailer and have it shipped to the States?

Thanks!

HI there,

the only slight problem you have with Euorpean spec units is on the AM radio bands as our tuning steps are slightly different than yours, aside from that you'll be fine If you have any problems getting it shipped drop me a PM and I'll lend a hand.

Thanks Tif - I was unaware of the AM tuning step dfference! What are the step increments and where do they start/end?

Any word on the 2002 units? I was really leaning towards the 7878R until I read some of your threads. Since you sold it, I assume you were ultimately dissatisfied with it.

2002 unit's should be out in a month or two. I would wait for them if I was you..... there should be some reviews floating around soon, I would at least wait for them to see what people have to say about the new ones.

Thanks StevenM. That may be an issue for me, unless I just go with an XM solution as well!
