Thumbs up 3k

has anyone else experienced an unusually high cold start of 3k just briefly at first start..?
i know it has been cold recently but it has done it on the warmer days too..
i do have a new o2 sensor to be fitted so i will try this, but was interested to hear if anyone had higher than normal cold start revs before..?
i did check the search but seems to be other idle problems in the main..

It's probably normal.

New 02 won't change anything as it's not used for the first 30 seconds or so on a cold start.

I recall my 08 doing that once, when it was really cold.

Mine has never revved to 3k on a cold start (MY00)

Even at -12C it started as normal, amazingly smooth for 134k mile engine too!

I think the max mine got to was 2.5k in -9C couple of weeks back.

So 3k does seem a little high. If it does it again, its time to start investigating!!

When you say briefly, how long do you mean?

i'd say it is the first second on start up holds at 3k then drops a little and proceeds with the cold start cycle..
last winter when we had a cold spell it has never got this high as other people have said.. what controls the revs at start up..?

Yes I've seen 3k rpm a few times

It all depends on the weather, don't forget at -5 or so degrees everything is frozen on the car,

Same here... Mine has been up close to 3k... My honda motorbike 600RR would do this too... Nothing to worry about.
