Hi all, how big is the difference in performance from 95 - 97 at £1.33. a litre compared to £1.25, I know its not much but hey every little helps. Will she even run on 95?

My car didn't like it.

Nor does it like mixing Sainsburys 97 Ron and Tesco's 99 Ron

My car ran so poorly on 95 I actually called up the previous owner to ask if theres something wrong with the car.

Stick with Super unleaded.

Or V-Power at all times

It shouldn't make a difference. The ECU should learn in short order the quality of fuel. I'm sure others will be on shortly to confirm.

But, it will run better on highr octane.

Agreed, it shouldn't cause any problems at all. I always put 95 in when I'm driving long distance

I'd run it on V-Power or something similar. However if you're pounding the miles (ie Euro trip) then stick the cheapest in. The difference is quite noticeable when you're having a spirited drive but on the motorways you can save a few pennies by running 95.

Never use high octane stuff unless I know I am going to need it.

The car runs fine on 95.

Seems to be the older cars that suffer most, possibly a change in the ECU? my 56 plate is happy on both but pulls better on 97+ best is shell V power, then Tesco 99, then Sainsburys 97. Havn't tried BP lately its just too expensive round here.
Might be worth restting the ECU with 95 in.

Take a look at-

http://www.petrolprices.com/

It's free to register and you can set up 3 postcodes they then send details of whos the cheapest within a 5 mile radus of each postcode.
