AEM joy :)
Well today I am a happy bunny.
You see I bought one of these about 2 years ago from a company called Jakan.

Then I bought a little add on for the S2000 from Vortech. Now the idea was to fit the AEM and run with that before adding the Supercharger as I didn't want to use the Vortech FMU black box.
Then I heard Mase was coming over from the States to run a tuning session, so I booked up and payed my money.
The day finally came, Mase had already succesfully worked his magic on 5 or so other cars over the previous few days.
So check all is fine on the car, unplug the standard ECU, plug the AEM in, connect to it.
Download the base map to it.
Nearly there................
Put the key in, turn it, press the red button, whirrrr..........., whirrr............, whirrrr........
No fire
OK make sure all the connections are tight, check to see if the AEM is receiving signals. All OK so try again. Nothing.
Next thought is Alarm / Immobiliser, checked, all OK.
So quick call to AEM in the states, diagnostics run etc.... No luck.
Suggest I contact the retailer.
Erm they have just Closed Down so what can I do.
Mase carries on with other cars
Now I decide to contact every UK seller of AEM EMS to see if they will allow a warranty claim, NOPE.
Contact AEM again to see if they can suggest anything, so I can send it back to them, however I will have to pay carriage both ways and for any work they carry out.
One of the UK re-sellers comes back to me to see if I had tried GEMS (General Engine Management Systems) based In Egham, who are actually the manufacturer of most of these things (GEMS, Motec, AEM etc...)
So I try them, yes we'll look at it for you.
I received it back recently and finally tried it out today.
Woo hoo, it works, the base map is running a little rich, but certainly better than lean and even better than not working.
The diagnostic...............
Someone had removed the jumpers for the injector drivers.
The Really annoying thing, Jakan had previously used this in an S2000 to show how they could get more power than Honda from the S2000.
So now onto the next stage......................

Coming soon

So is Mase coming over again soon or not, I've never got any reply from him?
I'll need my AEM tuned soon.
Oh and don't forget to order yourself some krankvents for when you're blown, as it happens there is a group buy going on in the FS forum.
