On the warranty question, anyone got any experience of this? I understood the dealer would have to prove the engine related claim was due to the K&N first.........which is highly unlikely........

Not sure if they would, or you have to prove it wasn't to blame.
Its an issue to be aware of anyhow, as some places will try like **** to wriggle out of a claim. It clearly states in a lot of warranties that modifying voids it.

If you have an engine related claim then you can always swap back and take it to a different dealer.
Or do they have a national database and note these things each time a car comes in for a service?

Removing your aribox lid results in a loss of power.
That's the reason I bought my PRM and latterly replaced it with a K&N. The noise is very deep and very much improves the whole car in my opinion, and for the price - its easy to fit and well worth the effort.
I couldn't put up with the power loss of the airbox lid removal - it was like permanent heat soak.

Any power lost is lost at the fly and the wheels - it cant be lost at the fly and not at the wheels.
Its difficult to say how much, but I found it to be noticable. Throttle response will be poorer too, as you are getting a hit of less dense warm air.

Is throttle response noticable improved by going to a K&N setup over stock with lid on?
