Default Airbox performance compromise

I took off my airbox lid a couple of months back having given it a try last summer and not liking the drop in power..

It was completely different, still quick, hardly noticeable drop in performance, so kept it off!

Went out Friday in the heat and by god did that make a difference, totally different car with a bit of temperature under the bonnet!

Shame really, the heat really made the performance suffer, seems it is fine under about 14 celcius and anything over is a big drop....

I don't normally have the lid off the airbox, but this weekend I'm feeling like a bit of a hooligan so it's off and I'm loving the noise Doesn't seem that much less powerful either - normally I notice the difference straight away.

Perhaps I'm not in as much of a hurry today!

i have the airbox off all the time really and tbh i don't really notice a difference. i think that having the spoon snorkle fitted helps to off-set having the airbox lid off. obviously this isn't backed up by anything remotely scientific.

on a recent meet c7ble said he thought he couldn't totally keep up with me under hard acceleration. i've got the spoon fitted and he hasn't.

so to sum it all up. fit a snorkle and get yer airbox lid off. makes it sound more like a sports car should. dae it!

I refer everyone to that thread where the car was dynoed with the lid and and then off.

Less than 2 bhp in it and about the same in torque. For me, the noise won every time ...

Don't forget your airbox is modded

Get a snorkel on it, your radiator air guide is already cut for one!
