Default Airconditioning problem

Hi guys

I seem to have a problem with the AC..never noticed before as I always have the room off

I click the ac button and the light comes on but I don't recall hearing a click for the compressor. It just blows warmish air or the outside temp.

Could this just a regas? Or is it likely a combination of things like the compressor?

When I'm home I'll open the bonnet to try and hear the compressor kick in but where abouts is it located?

Cheers chaps

Mine is the same, they'll normally have a pressure switch - if there's no gas pressure the clutch won't engage on the compressor. The condenser is pretty vulnerable out the front with no grille so I'd get it leak tested before re-gassing.

I got mine re-gassed last year and it didn't last until the Spring this year, been meaning to get a specialist on the case (rather than kiwk fit, etc.)

If I recall, they have to leak test it before regassing anyway. Or at least they're supposed to!

If the condenser isn't leaking (you will notice as it you'll see the oil) then chances are the O rings on the hard pipes that go into the condenser are in need of replacement. Cheap enough from Honda and easy to replace.

Yeah they vacuum down but I have a feeling the vacuum actually creates a seal that isn't so good under pressure.

Which probably explains my loss of gas too - cheers for the info ! I had a feeling it was seals somewhere but had no idea where to start.

Luckily most of the o rings on this system are very easy to get to, if you are going to have a bash yourself which I recommend as it is far cheaper to replace than chase leaks.

Have a quick look at the lings aircon diagram, drop the pressure from both sides of the system either through an air con service garage or if you know there is nothing/very little in there push a punch into the aircon fill valves, do both sides as you can relieve pressure from one side only.

Remove the pipes and replace o rings, trying to keep the system open for as little time as possible so it does not draw in moisture. Go back and get it tested and topped up. If it still leaks then chances are your compressor is leaky.

Where in the engine bay is the compressor located? If anyone has a picture and can circle it that would be great

It is on the left hand side of the engine at the bottom (right hand side as you stand looking from the front)

Its so easy to see, go onto lings website if you want a drawing.
