I give up, I've cleaned the bonnet sensor tried all types of locking even leaving it unlocked so that's it parked up, battery out and on charge.
I would have thought that 138 miles would have put some charge in to the battery it's not as if it was struggling to start hmpf

Mine was the bonnet switch, its conveniently rusted into the closed position now (i know this cos i tugged it and my alarm went off in the garage today and i'm still deaf)

You could put a load of rag round the siren? That what tea leaves do i believe

Information from the link I gave above: The Huntley & Palmer technician confirmed that opening and closing the door, and then locking with the key would disable the alarm siren.

Strange! I did that and got a full night's sleep for the first time in weeks. Do you have the H&P alarm?

A little update. I've gone through the sequence of interrogating the alarm and it didn't really work so what I've done is reprogramed the key fob to the alarm and it's been locked for 20 minutes and no alarm yet fingers crossed
