Jel, i'm sorry but you are wrong,
Clifford and Viper are not the same but half the price,
Clifford is clifford in the USA and Viper is Viper, they are not known as one another or anything like that.

They are 2 brands both owned and distributed by Directed electronics yes, both in the USA and here. The products themselvs are totally different.
Viper used to be a separate company a few years ago only available in the USA so must assume were bought by Directed at some time to be distributed world wide.

The Clifford has better build quality and features, and as you would expect the price higher, the clifford range offers technology and features the viper will never get and is marketed as such

It does not mean the viper is poor by any means and in this instance could suit the application perfectly well as the poster wants just a basic cat 1 alarm,
we chose a concept 650 due to its upgradeability (is that a word?) and most importantly excellent anti-hi jack feature

Fair enough but I stand by that with the OPs requirement for a reasonably priced system the features are totally comparable with Cliffords basic spec model.

As far as I can see they offer just about everything other than blackjax (sp?)

There's plenty of examples of products made by the same company with the same technology but the brand perception dictates the market price i.e Bosch and Skill.

Well, tonight it died for good...and locked the immobiliser out with it!!!

(Lesson guys - if it sounds like it's going, get it fixed before it strands you!!! )

So I guess it needs to be a mobile fitter!

...and I think I'm going for the Toad Ai606...

Cheers all,

Martin.
