Default Alarm problems back...

Well, it's at it again, at all times of day and night (wish I was!!!). And it's started taking the immobiliser with it, or at least the remote-fobs. Fixed by disconnecting and re-connecting the battery, but that's a PITA, esp. this morning in my suit in the rain!!!

(Quick qu - that IS likely to just be the alarm and not a secondary immob problem, isn't it?!?)

So it's going. ASAP. And I'm not getting another HP unit! Now need to decide what to replace it with. Don't want to spend a fortune, as considering selling in the summer (depends on job...).

- Toad - heard good things about quality and reliability, plus there's a couple of indy mobile guys around here who can fit (not used either though).

- Clifford - seems to be a common choice on-here, but someone told me they weren't 100% reliable...any comments?

- Laserline/Cobra - supposed to be OK, but company not doing so well. On that basis I'm inclined to leave alone, but the best alarm/audio 'shop' in the area (Clarendon in Leam Spa) only does their alarms.

So guys...thoughts and recommendations please.

I believe Clifford is a wise choice. Very good reputation also in Greece compared to the other ones.I have not heard of any problems occured with this alarm.

I retiterate Viper. Same company as Clifford with the UK recognised brand name. Same technology, half the price.

I always got on well with Cobra too.

I'd read all of Ian's thread, but it seemed focused on high-spec stuff or the Clifford. And frankly I'm not interested in intelli-anything. A straightforward Cat-1 that actually works will be just fine.

Plus I've found that if you piggy-back someone else's thread a lot of people think 'I've already posted', and don't offer anything new, even if you're asking a subtly different question...

Anyway, more suggestions welcome...

Not shooting at you, the clowns on the other thread thought it perfectly reasonable to pay double for the same product!
