why bother locking it at all ?
Good point, is there any need to lock it?.. no. I'd understand locking it if the internal sensors could stay on but they can't without setting the alarm off when its windy.

If you have your windows up it would be quite a reach to get to the handle I would imagine so locking it is better than nothing.

Rarely that I leave the car roof down unless I know the area very well / can keep an eye (and ear) on it

There is a sensor on the driver side rear panel, that is used to determine roof up or down - but im not sure whether its used by the alarm or not?

Agreed though, the immob comes on by itself so not much point in alarming...

lol cheers guys.

reason i asked is that i'd feel bit more confident if the doors were locked as its less of a deterant if you know what i mean.

the alarm def goes off when roof is down and is armed.

only time i'm going to leave the s with roof down is at shows or at the pub when i am in view of it.

on another note eventually fitted the '04 radio panel!

Check your insurance docs, you'll almost definitely find that your car isn't insured against theft from inside the car or theft of the car if your roof is down. (Even if it is parked in your garage).

This is a bugger as, in the summer, my car always used to be in the garage, roof down and tonneau on.

Not any more

having the hardtop dropped the insurance alot so that would explain it.

roofs always up on the soft top unless i'm sat outside the local in watching distance of the s.

A common feature of the car is that this switch is busted. Both the 03 S's I have owned have had faulty switches. The first I didnt know about this disarming the interior alarm, the second I was told about by Jorge the mechanic and so got fixed under warranty.

You should not have to use the fob to disarm these sensors when the roof is down, the switch should do that for you.
