Did all UK cars come with an alarm?

My MY2000 doesn't seem to have one, and the dealer told me it was a UK car.

From what I understand UK spec cars have the Honda alarm fitted in the UK as part of the PDI.

Imported cars don't have the alarm. If you are missing it, I would check the V5 (or whatever the registration doc is) to see where the car came from as if it was an import it should be on there. I think the dealer is telling porkies somewhere...

Still awaiting the V5 - Springfield have made an almighty cock up of the whole thing.

I've removed the rest of this post, as I don't want to bad mouth the dealer since they've done the right thing and offered me a full refund for my car.

I am not sure the if the V5 does always say whether or not the car has been imported.

My S2000 was a personal import from Antwerp and the V5 says that it was new at first registration in the UK.

I would have thought that the best way to find out if the car was an import would be to ask Honda UK. On an import the warranty will also be different 60kmiles as opposed to 90kmiles for a UK car.

If it is an import you will need the certificate of conformity.

Are you getting a discount for all of this hassle?

The sure way to tell if the car is imported is to check the supplying dealer stamp in the handbook.

I'm pretty sure the alarm was an option on the very early cars, but became standard pretty quickly.

Spoken to Honda UK, it's not on their books so it must be an import.

Time for a call to the sales manager.

I'll keep you all updated
