Default almost caught out by the white lines

The roads were a bit wet today down in ol sunny Brighton but as I like to have a bit of fun in the wet now and again, it almost caught me out today.

I was going up a straight, steep hill and accelerating hard in 2nd (about 7.5k rpm) and my back offside tyre caught the white line in centre of the road slightly and decided to twist me sideways.

I knew there and then exactly what was happening so gave it a little oppositte lock and eased off. Carried on up the hill as per norm.

It was a little thrilling but made me remember to respect this car alot as it can bite you when you least expect it. especially in the wet.

On the plus side also my new (replacement) diff arrived today!

Am I right in thinking that in this situation because you're going straight and up a hill then easing off the gas should straighten things up? Surely very difficult to actually spin I would have thought!

Less likely to spin as you'd have gravity to overcome, but no doubt not impossible.

Early lesson I learned in my old S on cold tyres early one Jan morning flooring it in second at an NSL sign uphill coming out of Edinburgh.

Took me a while to realise that the back of the car was happily fishtailing away to itself as I was not fully awake

Fortunate that it was uphill so no spin, and that it was on a wide dual carriageway .........

The roads were wet and I had just come off a 25 mile drive from Gatwick. However it seems as my rear tyre caught the white lines on the centre of the road, it lost all grip thus causing one wheel to spin and the car to start pointing sideways.

Caught myself out yesterday too.
Car just washed and wheels cleaned. Pull out of junction turning right, only 20 yds from home, so tyres are cold, wet and probably a little slimey from the cleaner.
Pull out but below vtec. Back end turns 20-30 degrees more than intended, no traffic around, a little opposite lock and no adjustment in throttle allows it to come back into line with no drama. but then again I was probably only doing 15-20 mph.

Wet white lines can be really nastyy. but uphill you're generally fine. Downhill however can be another matter.

traction control is a luxury. All cars come with traction control, ie an accerator pedal.
