Amplifier Problem
I recently installed a Vibe Slick A0 amplifier to match the BlackAir V2 crossovers/components/tweeters that have recently been fitted as well.
All was well at the weekend and Monday morning, then when I turned the ignition on Monday evening, audio was present for ~ 2 seconds, then nothing
The red LED suggests that it has gone into protection mode, so I started systematically removing wires to see when it would extinguish. This indicated that the +12V supply was at fault. All the fuses and connections are fine.
I then connected the amp +12V I/P to another battery, and obviously the GND terminal to -ve as well. The LED is now green, but dim, and the audio is poor/crackly/squelchy/distorted at best. I have tried this with each side connected independently as well, to rule out a problem with wiring etc.
This leads me to believe that there are perhaps two problems:
a - There is a short on the +12V wire from the battery to the amp. I have yet to carry out a continuity check on the wire as it's too long in the car to use my multimeter, but may have a chance to check it this weekend.
b - The amp itself is duff
Anyone with experience is invited to leave suggestions, even if it's just to confirm my thoughts before I send the amp back

Check you have a good ground. And double check all the fuses on the +ve wiring and built in fuses.
Sometimes if you have a bad circuit you get enough current to illuminate the LEDs so u think it's working but not enough current to run your speakers.
Presumably you will have bought the amp to match the resistance/power of the speaker setup?
