Default Another Insurance Question

I bought my MY07 from Bob Gerard and when I purchased it I got them to fit the hardtop which is never coming off. Do you think it would be okay to class my car as a GT when I look for a better insurance deal?

GT just means it has a hardtop.

It makes no difference to the premium in my experience

No but on the V5 you can amend the details anyway. What exactly classes the car as a GT? It's not like it has a GT badge on it. All I want to know is if I declare it as a GT and need to claim what will the insurers do?

I was told the insurers preferred the gt as it(when hardtop fitted) is slighty harder to break into and will load the non gt slighty, may be bullshit of course.

I can think of several good reasons :-

Great X-Bone Chassis
Superb F20C motor placed in as good a place as a front mounted motor would fit
Outstanding short shift direct gearbox
Great Wishbone Suspension (compared with other stock cars at least)
Driver centric cockpit
Superb reliability
Great off-the-peg handling and performance
Off-the-peg Track oriented capability

..and there's likely loads more

We don't all buy this car purely for the 'wind in my hair' experience
