The pistons sieze or corrode and get pitted, sometimes this will trash the seals.
Keep them clean and service the car.
USE THE CAR.
Trouble is, people mince about in them and then leave them unused for weeks on end. The car needs to be driven!

Also NEVER park it up long term with the handbrake on! Leave it in gear.
