?Anyone experience 'hiccup' S2K at 6000rpm
Help pls!! I experience occasional 'hiccup' at 6000rpm when i try to rev it up at gear two from the start at traffic lights, I thought initially i accidently step on the brake. Its bizzare but after the hiccup with sudden drop in rpm, if i kept on it, it will rev up to redline with no problem.
What causes it?? is it normal? It doesnt seems to be a problem if i rev it up to 6000 rpm at gear three or four at motorway. My car only had 2000 miles on it, and the engine oil level was normal.
Thanks

BTW, do you mean just reving the car (i.e. in neutral) or do you mean pulling through 6k rpm in 2nd gear? If the engine is lower than 2 bars of water temp then vtec won't engage and there is a temporary limiter at around 6000rpm. You'll know the first time you hit this as its like hitting a wall because you don't expect it!

You would be very unwise to redline it from cold. The limiter is there for a good reason.
Remember, although oil does lubricate at cold, its not up to temperature / optimum until well after the water temp stops climbing. Then you have thermal expansion of all the internals etc etc.
Your car only has 2000 miles and you are ragging it from cold?! Good luck to you.
Bedding in a car carefully at this age can pay huge dividends in future, especially on a VTEC engine. Being mechanically sympathetic to the engine can lead to better mpg and less oil useage.
