Anyone with experience of LHD cars on UK roads?

I trust her implicitly.
Too much of a compromise IMHO.

brother in law has a boxster S in LHD and he hates it now, he regrets buying it as its a left hander. garage service was also not as good had it ben a right hander or so he felt.

I used to drive a (big) Ford Thunderbird around London and the Suburbs and didn't have any problems. Most folk just got out of my way!
Pays to have a good passenger for overtaking if you are in a hurry or doing some serious motoring. Otherwise I would say leave the lefties alone unless you spend 75% of your time on the Continent!

Know a few people with left hookers. They seem to live with them as a matter of course. One person I know owns a corvette. Another owns a BMW M3 CSL of mid 80's vintage.
Both have loved them and lived with the disadvantages without too much problems. Both however did semi-regular euro-trips which makes it easier once you're abroad

If you can't see to overtake you are too close to the vehicle you are overtaking. In a car of that performance you can hang bang and BLASSSSSSST when clear!

yeah you will need a co-pilot to tell you when to overtake! See this vid for a perfect example of this. Other way round in this case but just the same! Passenger telling the driver when it is clear each time - would be a PITA if you are on your own.
You will either drive like a granny or have a head on mate without someone in your passenger seat telling you when to go

I think you are dealing with 2 issues at once..
learning to handle a LHD with the same degree of feeling and precision as you do a RHD - and for a sportscar..unless you are driving swiftly - then no point to have it..
and there is a big difference driving a LHD rental in USA or spain for a couple of weeks.. than your tuned porsche..
the 2nd problem is practicality in the UK of a LHD... it's not a major problem if the car is not for heavy use. We use our LHD cars quite regularly in the UK without a big fuss... occasional brain fade when I am not sure which country I am in
