The MX-5 is clearly the better car. Let it be.

 

People, try to resist the temptation to go and the MX5 board.

Each to their own. I had a 1.8i Mk2 before my first S2000 and loved it. With the benefit of hindsight, it lacked poke but it had one of the most biddable chassises of anything I've ever driven. Much fun.

 

Just remind them that the hardcore Mk1 NA owners hate the mK3

 

There is no comparison really. If you were comparing the MX5 with the MR2 Roadster (or CRX DelSol) then yes the MX5 is probably the better car. But the S is a step up in the league.

And who gives a toss about the hardtop. Mine's hung up nicely in the garage all summer saving weight.
