Default Ap1 headlight upgrades?

Hi all!

I realise this has probably been asked several times before, but i had a pretty fruitless search (driver error i suspect)

What's the best route for a bit more light from my AP1 headlights? I understand that they take a D2S HID bulb, but would i benefit from getting some 6000k ones for a bit more light on the road? Ideally i'd like to crank the beams up, but the auto leveler won't play ball and i don't want to blind people coming towards me!

Any thoughts and/or suggestions are most welcome as always

You can dial the lights up a bit on the headlights themselves too

I am surprised you are struggling with the lights tbh, I am truly amazed with the light that comes from mine

I'm with Winfreak. S2000s have the better projectors with very good light output. S2K projector are very popular for HID retrofits.

I tried winding them up a bit with the little adjuster on the back of the light unit, but the auto adjust wound them down again!

I wouldn't say i was struggling for light output, i think it's more down to the angle they're set at if i'm honest, i know they have the built in step from left to right so the r/h beam is lower anyway. I think if i could get them to light up a bit more of the road i'd be more than happy.

Ratchet, are they not HID anyway?! I've had HID's before on other cars and when i turn them on, i get the same high intensity kinda "ping" of light if that makes sense, they then build in brightness within a couple of seconds. I just assumed they were from the characteristics i've been used to?!

Have you checked the auto-adjuster is still attached ? Could be it's broken and giving the sensor the impression you are carrying 3 tonnes in your boot ? http://dave.harris.net/s2000-diy-rep...stment-sensor/

I'll have a look later, hope it's not gone duff! but that would explain the beams being a little bit low.

Thanks for the tip

The auto adjuster is just there for when you load the boot with luggage, it shouldn't interfere with you trying to adjust them on the back of the headlight

The auto adjuster may get confused if the car is set very low.

I'll have another go at tweaking them then, just that when i wound them up last time, the adjuster motor swung into action and undone my adjustment haha!

Also, car is currently standard height.
