After having the car detailed last year sometime I've finally got round to washing it.
The results are not pleasing, there are strange white patches in numerous places almost like some sort of residue has been left.
I've tried washing over them with microfibre towel / shampoo and even seen what happens when I apply Orange Dodo Juice (wax) and they result is the same.

Now I know why I barely ever wash my cars

So, any suggestions, my next thing to try is a clay bar when I next visit my garage.

It does look like dried polish, so in an inocuous place I would try and scrape a little with a finger nail, gently. If it comes off then it's likely hardened polish, perhaps some neat fairy liquid on a cloth could be the solution for you, failing that then yes try claying it, use plenty of lube

From experience it will be dried polishing compund used by the body shop. The best way to remove it is warm water on a clean microfibre and rub it with a little bit of pressure but not too much. Turn the microfibre regularly or it will scratch the lacquer. If that doesn't work then you could try some IPA on it but I would take it back to where you had the work done and ask them what they think it is.

On another note...

I've decided that I'm going to buy a DAS6 Pro from Clean Your Car as my paint is full of holograms and swirl marks as I don't think a fine enough compound was used on the final stage of finishing when I've had the car painted.

My question is, there seems to be a million types of polishing, finishing, ultra fine finishing pads out there so which one's should I get and how many will I need?

I know when it comes to using compounds and glazes etc to use the one with the finest grade of cutting first and work your way to more abrasive if needed so I think its just help with the cutting/polishing/finishing pads that I need.

TIA

I use http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/polish...ds/cat_82.html Along with the Scholl range S17 Orange pad and S30 on a white hex pad

For jeweling/burnishing i use that this pad http://www.cleanyourcar.co.uk/machin...prod_1104.html Along with http://www.nanotechsst.co.uk/nano-po...iew-p-410.html Scholl S40 is similar but no as good as the Nano Gloss imho
