Default Audio Controls Stopped Working?

I have an Alpine Head Unit with a Modifry kit installed so I can use the full dash controls. Everything fine for the last 4 years until it just decided to stop working (no volume, no music change etc). The Mute button still lights up but doesn't mute! The Head Unit works fine, it's just not communicating with the dash controls.
Has anybody got ideas or had a similar issue?

Help!

PS. I've tried searching for the last 15 minutes but not found anything decisive.

Have you checked for a burned fuse that goes through the dash control interface or for a failed connection to the modifry unit due to a road bump for example? If there is none of those 2 i believe the modifry unit-circuit just failed

Not yet. Any idea where the fuse is located?

After a short search i did in the S2000 service manual apart from the fact that this fuse is associated also with other functions of the car(so you should have had other problems too if it was burned) as long as your mute button lights up is not that.

Does the mute button stay lit, or does it light up and then go off with a press?

It goes on and off when pressed?

Well that rules out a blown dash-control mainboard...

If you do that, then the mute stays on.

I'd say more than likely a loose connection - most likely at the head unit end. I'd take the head unit out and reset the patch lead.

Found the problem after taking everything apart. Basically I've somehow fried the Modifry DC unit (see pic attached).
