Default Automatic prosecution by computer chip?

This sounds a bit ominous. It will be interesting to see this story unfold.

'Goodbye speed cameras, hello a spy in every car // British government officials are drawing up plans to fit all cars in UK with a microchip so that rule-breaking motorists can be prosecuted by computer... Developing... '

Thing is why are they doing it to prosecute motorists, instead of to prevent speeding. just shows their attitude towards it

Had an article on this in the Sunday times. They said it would be good for tracking and catching terrorists, those without insurance MOT etc.. I would of thought anybody who is going to be the wrong side of the law will have the tracker removed...

I wouldn't be surprised if in 10-15 years time we had these kind of systems monitoring us. I guess if they abolished the points and toting up system then it might not be so bad. Still very Big Brother / 1984 like.

if this ever happens then I would most likely not see much point in owning a car such as the S2000

Quite.

Bit like licensing weapons. Do they think licensed gun owners commit bank robberies?

This is just about control. Like the gun laws. Taking away the rights of citizens to defend themselves was just the start.

Mind you, on the car chip angle, I don't have quite the faith in technology that some do.

I would seriously question the point of having a performance car.....driving is already compromised as an 'enjoyment thing'...this kind of control would for me simply make the whole experience unpleasant

To be honest though the government is made up of people who drive cars as well, I can't believe when you become an MP this automatically means you have to hate cars? It would be suicide for any government to try to introduce such a law
