Default Back in an S

Having been an S2000 owner before and a previous member of the forum, I've now returned to S ownership after an M3 Evo, VX220 Turbo and Evo MR FQ 340. I always missed the S after giving it up, and always said I be back in one at some point. The S was my first real performance car, and I always remembered it to be a fantastic drive, but after the other cars I wondered if it was just rose tinted spectacles, well I'm glad to say its not, its still the best drivers car I've owned to date. It may not be the fastest, but I've come to feel speed is not everything, that said, the Evo was a nutter b*stard of a car, and for enjoyment to drive comes close to the S.

Anyway, happy as I am in the new S, it seems to hate traffic, and often gets bogged down when pulling away resulting in some kind of kangaroo effect. I'm trying to remember back to the days of my last S.....this is a common thing isn't it?

Thanks for the help, and looking forward to getting back into the forum again.

James

Yep, kangarooing gets them all, check the FAQ's you may get a bit of help from there.

Hi James, it's very common but there there are things you can do to fix it.

Have a look in the technical FAQ on the UK S2000 Community page

I too have an MR340 and i'm looking forward to an S one day soon. As you say, sometimes speed isn't everything, esp on todays roads.

Bought my S at the end of the summer of '06, the last time we had any really hot weather. Was not accessing this forum at the time and I suffered badly with kangarooing which was highly embarrassing. I contacted the dealer thinking something was wrong with the car.

I believe this phenomenon is worse in hot weather. I have never suffered with it since. I think one subliminally changes one's driving style to compensate. Your brain has got to forget your Evo me11jh and get back into S2000 mode.

Welcome back!

If it starts to kangaroo, one little technique I use is give a prod of the loud pedal in neutral which somehow seems 'clear it's throat' -for want of a better word!

I find I've adjusted my technique for it - just dip the clutch slightly and give it a few extra revs and seems to be fine.

Slightly odd that mine was doing it in second this week as well, I've not come across that before!
